Quartz Worktops

Kitchens & Bathrooms

What is Quartz?

Elegant, Durable, and Low-Maintenance Surfaces for Modern Living

Quartz worktops are engineered stone surfaces made from around 90–95% natural quartz crystals blended with resins, pigments, and polymers. The result is a beautifully consistent, strong, and non-porous material ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms.

At Elliott Stone Works, we supply and install premium quartz from trusted brands including Caesarstone, Silestone, Bloomstones of London, Unistone, and Cosy Stone, offering a huge choice of colours and finishes to suit every style.

How Is Quartz Made?

Ground quartz is mixed with resin and pigments, then compressed under vacuum and heat to form dense, non-porous slabs. This process gives quartz the natural beauty of stone with enhanced durability and a consistent finish.

How to Clean and Care for Quartz Worktops

Quartz is a durable, low-maintenance surface – ideal for busy kitchens and bathrooms. To keep your quartz worktops looking their best, follow these simple cleaning and care guidelines:

Daily Cleaning

Wipe with a soft cloth or sponge and warm water after use.

For stubborn marks, use a mild dish soap or a non-abrasive surface cleaner.

Avoid using scouring pads or anything abrasive, as they can dull the surface over time.

Dealing with Spills

Quartz is non-porous, which means spills won’t soak in – but it’s still best to wipe up spills as soon as possible to prevent build-up.

For dried-on residues (like food or toothpaste), try applying Cif cream (natural) and rub gently with a damp cloth.

What to Avoid

Do not use bleach, oven cleaners, or harsh chemicals such as drain cleaners or paint strippers.

Avoid using any cleaner with high pH (alkaline) or low pH (acidic) levels, as these can damage the surface.

Do not place hot pots, pans, or trays directly onto the worktop. Use heat-resistant mats or trivets to protect the quartz from thermal shock.

Quartz is scratch-resistant, but never cut directly on the surface – always use a chopping board.

Long-Term Maintenance

Quartz or sintered surfaces do not need sealing or polishing.

A periodic clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner can help maintain its shine.

If you’re ever unsure about a product, check with your worktop supplier or use a cleaner specifically labelled safe for quartz.
