Luxury, Natural Beauty, and Unique Character
Marble is a natural stone formed when limestone undergoes heat and pressure, creating distinctive veining and a luminous appearance. A favourite for centuries in architecture and art, marble is ideal for luxury kitchens, bathrooms, and statement features.
Quartzite is a metamorphic stone formed from sandstone under intense heat and pressure, creating a surface as hard as granite but with the elegant veining often associated with marble.
We offer both stones in a wide range of colours — from subtle neutrals to dramatic high-contrast slabs.
Both are quarried, cut, and polished to reveal their natural patterns. While quartzite is naturally dense, both benefit from sealing for stain resistance.
Natural Beauty: Unique patterns that cannot be replicated.
Luxury Appeal: Adds sophistication to any room.
Quartzite’s Strength: Scratch-resistant and ideal for busy kitchens.
Heat Resistant: Suitable for kitchens and bathrooms.
Bespoke Finishes: Ideal for worktops, vanity tops, and feature walls.
Porosity: Marble is more porous and prone to etching; quartzite is denser but still benefits from sealing.
Maintenance: Requires periodic resealing.
Premium Price: High-end materials with a luxury cost.
Natural stones with minimal processing; extremely long-lasting when cared for properly.
At Elliott Stone Works, we specialise in luxury marble and quartzite installations across Surrey, London, and the South East. Our close relationships with leading natural stone suppliers mean we always know where to source the perfect slab for your project. With expert craftsmanship and an eye for detail, we create timeless kitchen and bathroom surfaces designed to impress for decades.
We supply a stunning selection of marble and quartzite, known for their natural beauty and unique veining. Available in polished, honed and leathered finishes, most slabs come in 20mm and 30mm thicknesses. As every piece is unique, we encourage viewing slabs in person at our suppliers, which we are happy to arrange.
Marble and quartzite are beautiful natural stones, each with its own character. Marble is admired for its elegance and veining, while quartzite is valued for its strength and durability. With the right care, both will stay looking stunning for many years.
Daily Cleaning
Wipe surfaces with a soft cloth or sponge and warm water.
Use a mild dish soap or a pH-neutral stone cleaner for everyday cleaning.
Avoid abrasive pads or scouring products, which may scratch or dull the finish.
Dealing with Spills
Both marble and quartzite are naturally porous, so wipe up spills promptly to prevent staining.
Marble is especially sensitive to acidic substances like wine, citrus juice, coffee, and vinegar, which can etch the surface – take extra care with these.
For dried-on residues, gently clean with warm water and mild soap.
For tougher marks, use a cleaner specifically designed for natural stone.
What to Avoid
Do not use bleach, vinegar, lemon juice, or other acidic/alkaline cleaners – they can damage the stone.
Avoid oven cleaners, drain cleaners, and harsh chemicals.
Never place hot pots, pans, or trays directly on the worktop – always use trivets or mats.
Always use a chopping board rather than cutting directly on the stone.
Long-Term Maintenance
Both marble and quartzite benefit from periodic sealing (usually once a year) to protect against stains and maintain their finish.
A pH-neutral stone cleaner will help keep the surface looking fresh.
Over time, marble may develop a natural patina, while quartzite will maintain its durable surface – both are part of their unique charm.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Excellent service and an outstanding, quality product. Fantastic communication from start to finish. We went for the Carrara Misterio quartz and it’s breath-taking; it’s completely transformed our kitchen. From cladding the sink, to the drainer grooves, to cutting into boiler pipes and to putting a radius on the corner, nothing was a bother and they were more than happy to accommodate. I honestly couldn’t recommend enough. Thank you.
